It is actually nothing to shout about although it is a UNESCO World Heritage site. But to me, it is nothing special at all... why? Because Maya Bay in Thailand is much more prettier than Halong Bay. I still miss the crystal clear water and soft sand in Maya Bay, and also the beautiful caves that I kayak through.
In fact, Halong bay consists of cluster of over 3,000 limestone monolithic islands in various sizes and shapes. But all of the limestone are so normal (same as the limestone found in Ipoh). If you want to see special limestone, in Malaysia also got -> Pinnacles located in Sarawak. So, better don't waste $ to visit Halong Bay.
